What did you think about, or worry about, as you began to grapple with creating a unit for an online course?
The main concern I had was finding the right partner who might have the right interest as me and connecting all through the medium of the internet. Finding a partner online seems to me like asking a total stranger to be your facebook friend or posting for a partner on craiglist. (Ok... craigslist posting might bit of a stretch but you got my point.)
Lucky for me, there were few classmates who have very interesting ideas. As much as I want to join all the groups I had to narrow my preferences to be working with elementary students and hopefully somewhat of an integration of technology in the curriculum unit.
Creating an online curriculum for elementary students poses certain limitation on my partner(s) and I to overcome parents' fear of their children overusing internet and computer at home but yet make it educational and fun. How can we create a curriculum that keeps children focus on certain topic or subject online without the presence of a teacher or instructor. How can we create an online curriculum that children can learn from each other successfully online just like a brick-and-mortar classroom settings?
